red moon rising

If you're on the east coast, the weather cooperates, and you have some kind of rooftop access, watch for the lunar eclipse on Saturday evening.

Mama Sloth, who has her toe on the pulse of current science news, has turned us on to Spaceweather.com for important news and information about goings-on in our local solar system.

The big ball-o-cheese will alreaty be eclipsed when it rises in the east at sunset. It doesnt really disapear so much as turn a weird color, this is because of the refraction of sunlight by the Earth's atmosphere into the shadow caused by the moon, this light causes the Moon to glow... this the pic you posted is of a fully eclipsed moon.

i will tell arthur about this sloth and we'll be on the lookout. arthur talks about the moon a lot. really. he was doing it last night. i think it is because he goes outside to smoke at night.

Does the moon answer back, fairy? I bet the ol' moon enjoys a good smoke once in a while.

I am hoping there will not be too many clouds, but at this point the weather dorks are predicting rain at 5pm. At which time you will find me on the roof of the shack with a gallon of wine, talking to a raincloud.
