I think I like it best around 1:48 (my conservative taste?). He kind of goes off the rails toward the end. In the movie "the Mystery of Picasso" you can watch him work another torreador painting into the ground. He goes through 5 good paintings in the process of making one. A good lesson against being too precious.
I feel nerdy (and retarded) for not understanding what this was until, like, halfway through. Peeds, I too thought it was gonna be the kind of thing where I'd have to cover my screen at work. . .
beeeutiful. your right adhoc, he should called it quits earlier... Still, pretty fastinating to watch. I wonder if he did that extensive reworking on every paintings or played it up for the camera, sorry to be cynical, just wondering.
oops - sorry to have caused any confusion! although some of his work was not office-safe, esp. the late erotic drawlings, which were like his version of Viagra...
I remember a story about DeKooning meeting with Irving Sandler (sorry so geeky) and a camera crew who filmed him as he worked. Later when I.S. asked him what happened to that painting, DeKooning said something like, "Oh that? That was just for you and the camera crew. I threw it out."
i totally agree with adhoc and corny. he shoulda stopped in the middle there. watching this actually started to make me anxious with all the reworking. cool though to see how it starts out and I loved the bull's face before it got all cubalicious.
